Kovari Collection Final Form
The collection consists of shirts, trousers, jackets, vests, and overalls in sturdy, protective fabrics. Clean lines, monochromatic palette; olive, dark blue, gray and black hues long associated with workwear. KOVARI draws from the visual and cultural language of Labin's mining tradition: its uniforms, its symbols, its history of collective labor and resistance. Each garment is built around workwear construction, with a strong focus on function, form, and materials, while carrying a layer of carefully embedded references throughout.
Crossed hammers are laser-cut into every button. Belt buckles and tags bear numerical markings, referencing the identification system used in the mines. The puff print renders the underground signal code, a system of light and sound used for communication and survival - as surface detail, white on white, tactile and understated. Labels are sewn with the miner's greetings and symbols.
The number plates carry perhaps the most weight. Before descending, each miner was assigned a number to collect their equipment. If the number wasn't returned at the end of a shift, it meant he didn't make it out. KOVARI holds that detail without making it loud. Ultimately, the collection highlights the value of Labin's mining heritage; a history that played a defining role in shaping the region's culture and identity, and one that deserves to be carried forward.
